A successful owner of laying hens knows how to manage his flock and:

writes down the daily feed and drinking water consumption
keeps records about the animals in the barn
distinguishes according to the laying perfomance
keeps records about the loss of animals and possible causes
weighs some animals of the flock regularly (approx. 30-40 animals), younger animals weekly
observes his/her animals and recognises behavioural disorders and tries to find the cause in order to eliminate it
uses scoring methods for the evaluation of the plumage condition
preheats the barns before bringing in new animals.
