Cup drinkers proved to reduce water loss and allow the birds species-specific water intake. After a correct installation, cup drinkers have hygienic advantages because soiling of the water can solely be caused by feeding remains or dust. Because of the high flow rate the drinkers are constantly refilled with fresh water. Nevertheless the cups need to be cleaned every now and then.
