Nipple drinkers

Nipple drinkers are commonly used because of their good hygiene. But they also prevent species-specific water intake, because only dripping water from the nipple drinkers can be found in the collecting pan. If solely nipple drinkers are provided, these must be offered to the laying hens during the early rearing phase to prevent stress due to water deficiency and dying of thirst. It is best to offer several different types of drinkers to the birds during the early rearing phase.
