Feeding

Rabbits are very susceptible to digestive tract diseases. Feeding mistakes may promote or even cause such problems. The following should be considered:
  • Demand-oriented feed provision (adapted to age and performance)
    • e.g. weaning feed for young animals
  • Permanent access to roughage of good quality (no sole feeding of concentrate)
  • Feed in perfect condition (without contamination etc.)
  • No abrupt diet changes, but gradual changes so that the sensitive microflora of the gut can adapt
