Inadequate spatial structuring

  • Insufficient hiding places and retreat possibilities prevent rabbits from being able to hide and seek shelter (which would correspond to their natural behaviour) in the event of agitation (e.g., agonistic encounters with conspecifics, noise, when startled).

  • A lack of possibilities to retreat from their kits, e.g., by jumping on raised platforms, leads to stress in does.
