Husbandry-related problems - indicators and consequences

Feeding mistakes

  • Keeping rabbits without permanent access to roughage of good quality can lead to serious health problems. Rabbits need food rich in crude fibres and must eat almost constantly for optimal support of their very sensitive digestive tract. The frequent chewing and gnawing also helps to shorten their continuously growing teeth.

  • Sudden diet changes and imbalanced food compositions (e.g., not adjusted to age and performance) can also seriously impair their health.
