Husbandry-related problems - indicators and consequences

No social contact to conspecifics

  • Rabbits should, whenever possible, have contact to conspecifics. However, aggressive behaviour can result in injuries that impair their welfare, partly probably also due to space restrictions compared to rabbits living in the wild.

  • If animals have to be housed individually, they should have at least sight and olfactory contact to conspecifics.
