Requirements of does

About a week before parturition, each doe should be provided with a nest box, into which she can carry nesting material. The nest box must be sufficiently ventilated so that moisture may evaporate. Suitable nest materials are, e.g., straw, chopped straw, or hay.

Nursing does must be able to withdraw from their kits, which leave the nest and follow her in order to suckle. This can be achieved by offering the doe raised platforms or an additional compartment that the young cannot reach yet because of their size.
