Social behaviour

Social interactions:

The so called friendly particle pecking of the plumage, the head and beak as well as the hangings are positive interactions. The pecked animal does not remove itself and often closes its eyes.

Negative interactions (behaviour patterns) include behavioural elements of offence and defence such as pecking and being pecked, chasing and being chased, fighting and feather pecking. Pecking is performed with the beak, at which especially the head or the hangings (wattle, comb) are targeted . During a chase one animal is beeing followed. During a fight two animals stand head-on with erected feathering and threaten and jump upon each other. During fights the cock uses his spurs.
